Good morning, Long Island. Here’s your traffic and weather check.

On the roads, at this check I’m not seeing a verified major crash or full highway closure on the Long Island Expressway, Northern State, Southern State or Sunrise Highway. Expect the usual pockets of mid-morning volume, but nothing major enough right now that I’d put a specific shutdown on the air.

On the railroad, the Ronkonkoma Branch is back in service after yesterday’s downed utility poles near Bethpage. The major disruption has been cleared, although riders should still check TrainTime for any lingering delays or cancellations.

Weather right now: mostly cloudy and around 60 degrees across Long Island.

Through the next several hours, we stay dry, with some breaks of sunshine and temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 60s.

Northeast winds are running around 15 to 20 miles per hour, with gusts around 30 to 35.

No thunderstorm threat this afternoon. The bigger weather story is along the coast, where a high rip-current risk continues, and a coastal flood advisory begins at 7 tonight for parts of the South Shore.

So for the rest of the day: dry, breezy, temperatures near 67, but the wind and coastal conditions are going to become increasingly important as that offshore storm gets closer.
